The weather is finally cooling down, making it the perfect time for a warm, comforting bowl of soup.
Last week, Bret picked up some delicious Italian sausage, and I’ve been searching for the perfect recipe to use it.
This Sausage Bean Soup seemed like the ideal choice—I just knew it would be amazing!
I made a slight tweak to the original Taste of Home recipe by adding a touch of chili sauce to enhance the tomato flavor. Since we prefer a more broth-based soup rather than a thick one, I also increased the liquid content.
The end result is a rich, savory soup packed with delicious ingredients like tomatoes, butter beans, black beans, and sweet Italian sausage.
If Italian sausage isn’t available, ground beef or ground turkey would work just as well. Some reviewers swapped out the butter beans for great northern beans, but I personally enjoyed the texture that butter beans added.
For a vegetarian option, you could simply skip the meat and add a third type of bean instead.
This Sausage Bean Soup is a fantastic addition to my collection, and I know I’ll be making it often!
